CBD Oil for Pain Management

Many people are looking to cannabidiol (CBD) oil tinctures to help manage chronic pain. CBD oil has been shown in clinical studies lower inflammation, reduce paind, and provide relief from the symptoms of a variety of health conditions.

What Is CBD Oil

CBD oil is an extract derived from cannabis sativa suspended in a carrier oil. The most common carrier oils are grapeseed, hemp seed oil, olive oil, and fractionated coconut or MCT oil (also known as caprylic acid.)

CBD a phytocannabinoid, a chemical compound found naturally in marijuana and hemp plants. It doesn’t cause the “high” feeling often associated with cannabis, which is caused by a different cannabinoid called THC.

CBD oil can either be vaped or applied sublingually and then swallowed. Oral administration is the most commonly recommended route because it allows the CBD to be absorbed through your intestinal lymphatic system and rapidly distributed to cannabinoid receptors throughout the body.

However, vaping may be preferable under circumstances like extreme nausea when you don’t necessarily want to swallow a spoonful of oil.

People who do intermittent fasting or time restricted eating also prefer to vape CBD oil whenever it is outside of their eating window so that the oil ingestion doesn’t interrupt cellular autophagy in their fasted state.

Does CBD Oil Work for Pain

Studies on CBD oil and pain management have shown a great deal of promise. CBD offers a viable alternative for people who don’t want to  rely on dangerous, habit-forming opiates and even for those people concerned about the effects of relatively common NSAIDS on their gut microbiome.

There have been some recent randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled crossover trials showing a significant reduction in chronic pain with the use of CBD hemp oil. [2] Benefits for pain management were stronger when CBD is combined with THC, though the CBD seems to be the more beneficial of the two compounds.

According to Dr. Ethan Russo, a renowned cannabis researcher CBD complements the ability of THC to treat pain, while in its own right providing excellent anti-inflammatory benefits. CBD offers pain relief without side effects like ulcers, heart attacks, and strokes that can be caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

CBD for Headaches and Migraines

Although there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that CBD can benefit those of us who suffer from headaches and migraines (I take it – it works) there isn’t a lot of good clinical research on this topic.

There have been a few assessing the effects of medical marijuana on headaches and migraines, but none that focused on cannabidiol or hemp.

More clinical research in this area is needed (but CBD works for me so I’m going to keep taking it.)

CBD for Arthritis Pain Relief

In 2016 researchers at the University of Kentucky looked into the use of transdermal CBD gel to treat arthritis pain in laboratory rats and found that topical CBD provided relief of arthritis pain-related behaviors and inflammation, without evident side-effects. [3]

When you try the best CBD oil tinctures you’ll see for yourself that the pain just melts right off of you. I am personally completely in love with this supplement. I take it every day, multiple times a day. I look forward to bringing you good information so that you can also enjoy the benefits of CBD Hemp oil for pain!
