VERISOL® Collagen Powder Review

Spread the love

I bought Trunature healthy skin verisol collagen at my local Costco, and have been taking it for about a week.

What is Verisol collagen?

This is an interesting supplement because Verisol bioactive collagen peptides is a trademarked product of the Gelita corporation. Since the Trunature supplement I purchased doesn’t contain any other ingredients, this product is identical to other verisol collagen supplements.

Probably the most popular brand of Verisol collagen right now is the Whole Foods Market brand:

Gelita is a German company specializing in the manufacture of collagen and gelatin ingredients. They currently have a pending US patent for their specific method of hydrolyzing “verisol” collagen peptides. If you’re wondering “where does verisol collagen come from?” the answer is Germany.

One of the reasons this product is so interesting is because it claims that you need a whole lot less than the standard serving sizes of other collagens in order to see results.

Gelita sponsors research through a German organization called the Collagen Research Institute, so there are a few studies on their website that claim you only need 2.5 grams of collagen to see results. Most other brands of collagen have research supporting 10 grams of daily supplementation. That means you only need 1/4 of the amount that you might take from another brand of collagen.

Findings support beauty and skin improvements including strengthening nails. diminishing wrinkles, and reducing cellulite. I am most interested in the cellulite reduction since that’s a problem I’m currently dealing with (aging sucks.)

According to the Gelita website the research shows:

“A double blind, randomized, placebo controlled study with 105 women aged between 25 and 50 years shows that the daily oral intake of 2.5 g VERISOL® significantly decreases the cellulite score. The effect was measured after 3 and 6 months supplementation. VERISOL® has a beneficial effect on skin extracellular matrix and restores the normal structure of the dermis and subcutaneous tissue. VERISOL® supplementation also reduced the waviness of the skin, with first results visible after 3 months, but more pronounced after 6 months. With a daily dose of 2.5 g VERISOL® the appearance of cellulite women with a BMI < 25 was significantly reduced.”

I was not able to determine if the Gelita corporation has a direct affiliation to the Collagen Research Institute – but the bio’s of the researchers involved in these studies check out. These are legitimate scientific studies being cited by other researchers in the field. Full text of some of these studies can be found on PubMed using the citations I’ll post at the bottom of this article.

  • Smaller serving size
  • Backed by clinical research
  • Strengthens nails
  • Diminishes Cellulite
  • Reduces wrinkles

These new Verisol products hitting the market are great because you need a much smaller serving size than their traditional counterparts. With such a light flavor and scent and small serving size even people who are extremely sensitive to unpleasant tastes should be able to tolerate sneaking these products into their diet.

They’re convenient to purchase because they’re available at Costco, Whole Foods, and of course on Amazon.

And of course it’s great that Verisol is backed by clinical research that shows the benefits of this product.

Since this is a trademarked ingredient, unlike other collagen products, we don’t really know what “type” of collagen this is. Since we don’t know more about the type, I can’t say that these Verisol products would be beneficial for the full range of issues traditional brands of collagen support.

If you are looking for a collagen supplement to support skin, reduce wrinkles, and eliminate cellulite, I would definitely give this product a chance.

However, if you’re having joint pain, indigestion, or are looking to increase flexibility in your workouts – I’d stick with a more traditional brand of hydrolyzed collagen peptides.

I am enjoying this product and plan to use it for the foreseeable future as I’m trying to fight off some troublesome cellulite. I make sure to also take Vitamin C to aid in the absorption and promote the usefulness of this collagen product.
